Finally a home of our own

This blog is dedicated to our house renovation, DIYs and anything home improvement. There are 4 of us in the family, myself -J, wife - E, daughter - X (7 years old) and daughter -G (4 years old). We are renting a townhouse and it's was my 2013 resolution to get our own place with some backyard by the end of 2013. Also with X and G growing, they would eventually need more space.

After many months of searching, multiple auction, countless open house, we finally bought a house a week before Christmas in 2013. The vendor wanted long settlement - 120 days, as she has not found a new place when we sign the contract. We're more than happy to accommodate since our lease will only expire in June 2014.

Sold by Noel Jones of Blackburn, and I'm very happy with Robert's professionalism, patience and good after sales service.

Here's some photo from their property listing:

It'a a 4 bed, 1 bath and 1 garage space on a 600 meter square land. It's odd that the bathroom is divided into 2 with a partition wall in the middle giving 2 usable bath area. According to the architect, the previous owner probably did that to avoid the hassle of council approval which isn't required since the partition wall did not go up to the ceiling. Practical.. yes, but at the expense to tiny shower space. The toilet is at the other end of the house. Not a very big house but should be enough for the 4 of us for now.

Apparently the house was once a display home, and it's obvious that not much has change since the 60s. The living area at the back of the house was added probably in the early 80s. Although old, it's well maintained. What attracts us (well me actually since E, X and G did not attend the open for inspection) was the direct park access from the back of the house.
